This is a genuine commercial Phrobis III M9 Buck 188 bayonet with scabbard. In excellent condition overall. Dated 1990 on the blade ricasso (X). Other side is marked with the 4 line Phrobis stamp. Blade edge has some very light honing, and also some scabbard wear. Tip is not chipped or blunted. No chips on the blade edge. False edge has a tiny mark - from cycling the blade in the wire cutter plate and hitting the stop pin. Looks like the button snaps, handguard, and pommel all have original finish and have not been painted. This one is an interesting variation, as it has the grip with the "coarse" stippling, short loop back strap webbing, and belt clip with the stainless steel rivets (not brass like the early models). The knife was probably built in 1991 even though the date code is 1990, as the date code on the Nexus buckle is Feb 1991. The yellow Buck warning sticker that is normally affixed to the scabbard (underneath the pouch) is missing. More than likely the sticker was never applied to the scabbard. The stickers were put in the box and sometimes people never put them on the knife. Made in USA.
Note: Since this is a "commercial" Buck product, they can refinish and resharpen the blade for a nominal fee. Please see the Buck warranty page for details. Basically, the blade can be made nearly new again by Buck.
