This is a genuine commercial Phrobis III M9 Buck 188 bayonet with scabbard. In issued/well used condition. Most Buck 188's were not used in the Military because they were sold as a commercial model. However, this one was carried by someone in the Military which makes it rather unusual. Sometimes soldiers purchased there own M9 when they were not issued one, and also family members would buy one on the private market and give it to them. Dated 1987 on the blade ricasso (>). Other side is marked with the 3 line, 3rd generation Phrobis stamp. Complete with all original and correct parts, including the Buck style wire cutter plate with stop pin. Blade edge has some honing, and also some scabbard wear. Has some very tiny chips/dings on the blade edge, but no significant issues. Someone has resurfaced the false edge. Probably to remove wire cutter dings in the blade. Has some light rust on the handguard, pommel and back of the cutter plate screws. All of the snaps work. The stitching is tight on the belt clip strap, but there is some side-to-side play where the back of the clip attaches to the webbing via the 2 rivets. It is still attached well, and will not come off. The yellow Buck warning sticker is underneath the pouch). Made in USA.
Note: Since this is a "commercial" Buck product, they can refinish and resharpen the blade for a nominal fee. Please see the Buck warranty page for details. Basically, the blade can be made nearly new again by Buck.
